Palomar is the area covered by the Palomar Hills Community Association in southwest Lexington, off Harrodsburg Road near Man o' War Boulevard. The association places it on the eastern edge of Mill Ridge Farm, and its boundary takes in about 200 acres. Palomar Centre is the shopping center that carries the name, on Harrodsburg Road. It sits outside every registered neighborhood association boundary, Palomar's included, so it is a neighbor to the neighborhood rather than part of it. The association runs a clubhouse surrounded by three pools, plus tennis and basketball courts, a volleyball court, a playground and a walking trail. Palomar Centre is on Harrodsburg Road just outside the neighborhood boundary. Sedona Taphouse is at 3600 Palomar Centre Drive and John's Run/Walk Shop is at 3735 Palomar Centre Drive. Beaumont and its Moondance Amphitheater are to the north. Firebrook and Cave Hill Place border Palomar, and Plantation is next door too. Annual Events
Palomar's own big Saturday is the South Elkhorn Fall Festival every October, at the church just outside the association boundary on Harrodsburg Road, the same way Palomar Centre sits just outside it. The other regular events nearby are next door.

The neighborhood was established in 1986, and most of its lots were platted from then through the mid-1990s.
