Lexington KY Live Traffic Cameras
Snapshots from Lexington traffic cameras, refreshed every 2 minutes.
Lexington has a rush hour like any city, but honestly traffic has gotten bad enough that you'll hit delays even between rush hour windows. The absolute best time to get around town is late at night, around 9 or 10pm. The roads are mostly clear, everyone is home from work and getting ready for bed, and the only people you're sharing the road with are nightshift workers heading in or evening shift folks heading home. I've driven around town at every hour, and that's genuinely the best window. Night owls have a real advantage here.
During the school year, before you head out, check whether UK has a home football or basketball game. Those bring traffic citywide. Without a game on the schedule you'll probably still hit some traffic, but at least you won't be stuck somewhere for thirty minutes.
That's where the cameras below come in. They're snapshots from intersections across Lexington, updated every two minutes, covering Downtown, UK Campus, Hamburg, Harrodsburg Road, Leestown Road, North Broadway, Red Mile, Winchester Road, and the I-75/South corridor.
Fair warning: these are individual intersection snapshots, not full coverage of every road. They won't tell you the whole picture, but they'll give you a sense of what's happening at the spots most people care about, which is usually enough to know whether it's a good time to head out.
Traffic Tips
- New Circle Road is busiest 7:30-9 AM and 4:30-6 PM, especially near Nicholasville Road and Tates Creek Road.
- Keeneland race days cause heavy traffic on Versailles Road. Use Man O War Boulevard to approach from the south.
- UK game days create congestion around Rupp Arena downtown and Kroger Field on the south side.
- Nicholasville Road is the busiest corridor in Lexington, particularly around Fayette Mall and The Summit.
