Call the Season

Every August I hear the same argument in line at the grocery, at a cookout, in the parking lot before a game. How many does Kentucky win this year? Here is your chance to go on the record. Call the regular season record, pick the Governor's Cup, and get a card with your call on it. Then come back in November to gloat or to eat crow.

Calls close at kickoff of the opener, Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. ET. No money, no prizes, no entry of any kind. Bragging rights only.

How bowl eligibility works

Kentucky plays 12 games in the 2026 regular season, and a team needs 6 wins to become bowl eligible. That is why 6-6 is the number everyone circles in August: win half your games and you have earned a postseason invitation, finish 5-7 and the season ends in November. Eligibility is not the same as a bid, since the number of eligible teams and the number of bowl slots do not always match, but in practice a team that gets to 6 wins is almost always playing in December or January. On this page, calling 6 or more wins counts as a bowl call.
